Carrefour Sharjah has a bad chicken day

Two customers who bought chickens from Carrefour hypermarket in Sharjah this week had to return the stuff after discovering that they have foul smell, the Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum said on Monday.

The Dubai-based paper quoted Hekmat Qatami as saying he bought 14 chickens from Carrefour City Centre in Sharjah and took them home, where his wife told him that all of them are bad and smelly.

The paper said Qatami returned the chicken to Carrefour, adding that he had an argument with the staff members who first blamed him for alleged inconvenient storage. “When another customer came and complained about a foul smell from chicken she has just bought, they believed me,” he said.

The paper quoted food director at Carrefour Mahfouz Mohammed as saying his company had opened an investigation into the problem to determine if the chickens were bad because of improper storage by Carrefour itself or the supplying firm. He said all customers who bought that chicken were refunded.
