Schools across Sharjah are taking part in an awareness campaign organised by the Sharjah Census 2015 to familiarise students with its role in ensuring the development of the emirate. The campaign features a range of interactive workshops designed to highlight the importance of the census and the way it has been carried out through easy to understand exercises.

The campaign will run until the end of November in both private and public schools.

It aims to raise students' awareness about the importance of the census and its role in achieving sustainable development for the betterment of future generations.

The campaign also aims to provide students with information about the phases of the national census project and how they can participate in it.

As part of the campaign, each student will receive an introductory booklet, which is age appropriate, containing detailed information about the census. A variety of competitions and interactive activities will run parallel to the campaign.

Jameela Al Humairi, head of PR and Communications, said, "Through this awareness campaign we hope to familiarize students with the goals and method of application of the Census 2015. We have special teams who are specifically trained to deliver our message to students in an uncomplicated manner while explaining that the results will be a positive step for everyone in Sharjah."

She added, "So far the campaign has proved to be popular and we have had a huge response from school principals and students. This will also help students to play a part in making the work of the census teams a success during the two phases of the data gathering and collating."

The general census of the population, infrastructure, housing and establishments in Sharjah aims to provide accurate and reliable statistical data on economic, social and demographic sectors and others in the emirate of Sharjah.
