Funeral arrangements are underway for triathlete champion Roy Nasr, who was killed after a car rammed into him during his morning training ride on Friday.
The announcement was made on the the Tri Dubai Facebook page.
“Everyone is welcome. It will be held this Tuesday, September 10 at 2pm at the St Francis of Assisi church in Jebel Ali.”
A reception will follow the next day.
“This will take place at this Wednesday, September 11, at Roy and Tina’s house from 5pm to 9pm.”
The tragic news was first announced on the cycling group’s Facebook page.
“Our beloved Roy was killed this morning near Safa Park as he was doing his morning ride with Ali and Sarmad.
“He was hit from behind and died on impact.”
Roy was working as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Abela and Co and had co-founded Tri Dubai.
The police reported that the driver was intoxicated when the accident had occurred and has since been arrested.
Some media reports suggested that the driver is in his 20s and hails from Nepal.
Forty-nine-year-old Roy Nasr, who hails from Lebanon, is survived by his wife and two children.
