Crane collapse disrupts traffic in AD

A giant demolition crane disrupted traffic for nearly 30 minutes on a busy street in Abu Dhabi after collapsing while being dismantled, according to police.

The crane tumbled on the road near the intersection between Hamdan and Salam street, one of the busiest areas in the town centre, they said.

“There were no casualties but the collapsed crane caused some damage to the road and disrupted traffic for half an hour,” said Lt Colonel Ahmed Al Zayoudi, director of accidents at Abu Dhabi police.

Quoted by local newspapers, he said the crane fell off because it was too old, adding that it had been removed and the place had been cleared.
