Dubai balloons come home to roost

Residents of Dubai’s Mohammed bin Rashid City District One and morning commuters around the area were greeted with hundreds of flying hot air balloons that filled up the morning sky today.

At around 9 am they were seen coming home to land at Mohammed bin Rashid City in front of Nad Al Shiba race course.

Residents were seen taking pictures and videos and soon took to social media as they spotted the colourful array of balloons, part of the Dubai International Balloon Fiesta.

“Early hot air balloon magic #MyDubai #cities,” said Twitter user @LisaBaroldi.

“There are hundreds of hot air balloons I can spot right now in the sky,” said an eyewitness on his way to work. “The traffic has slowed down with people trying to catch a glimpse and take shots of the colourful sky,” he told this website at around 9.15am.

This isn't the first time this week that Dubai residents have witnessed the hot air balloons in mornings.

The Dubai International Balloon Fiesta is the first event of its kind in the region.
