Applauding the efforts taken by the Dubai Municipality to help senior citizens in the emirate, a group of elderly recently met senior officials of the civic body and offered suggestions on how to make the services even more impactful and beneficial.

“We see them [senior citizens] as an integral part of the society. They have more to do with the development and advancement of the society,” Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said in a media statement.

Through the civic body’s Senior Citizen Card scheme, which was recently linked to Community Development Authority (CDA), Emiratis aged over 60 years get free Hepatitis vaccination services at their homes.

Dubai Municipality said in a statement that it also offers senior citizens priority in all its services. The Immunity Against Epidemic Diseases Certificate is another initiative under this project that aims to support senior citizens.

Elderly Emiratis can also avail of 10 per cent discount at Children’s City, affiliated to the municipality, and can purchase 50 sacks of farm fertilisers at 10 per cent discount every year.

The civic body also said that senior citizens are allowed to park their vehicles free of charge at the fish market parking area even after the auction time.
