An Emirati man rescued an Asian family from drowning in their car in Wadi Al Helwo of Sharjah.

The incident happened during the rains that lashed the emirate on Sunday, when several families had ventured out to the Wadi to enjoy the pleasant weather, reported Emarat Al Youm.

The family, in a black car, was swept into the waters and people gathered tried their best to rescue them before the waters swallowed the vehicle. According to eye-witness accounts, they were alerted by the screams of the woman and child inside the car.

The car was fast drifting into the depths of the water when a golden-coloured vehicle entered the valley. Ahmed Al Badwawi opened the door of the drowning car and rescued the child first. He then returned to pull the man and his wife to safety.

Badwawi is part of an exploration team and considers it his duty to help save people in trouble. He opined that the driver’s inability to control the car in the flood waters resulted in engine failure.

He explained that he fixed the gear on his four-wheel drive and ventured into the waters to rescue the family.
Meanwhile, an ambulance arrived and transferred the family to hospital.
