Employer cannot refuse to accept resignation in writing: UAE HR ministry

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has stated that an employer cannot refuse to accept the resignation of an employee when it is submitted in writing.
 
According to a report last week in ‘Al Ittihad’ newspaper, the ministry added that the notice period can be extended at the request of the employer, but if the employee continues in the job for six months after resigning, it will be considered that s/he has withdrawn the resignation.
 
The ministry stated that an employee must take in writing the consent of the employer when extending period of notice.
 
The ministry also pointed out that the worker must prove his notification of resignation has been received by the employer whether the letter of resignation be submitted by fax or e-mail or mail.
