The UAE Ministry of Economy has asked distributors of energy drinks to print statutory warnings on each bottle.
Coming close on the heels of deaths from around world related to consumption of energy drinks, the ministry has issued the latest warning to ensure people in the high-risk category do not consume them, Arabic language daily Al Khaleej reported Thursday.
Citing Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Consumer Protection Department at the ministry, the newspaper said all distributors have to stick to the rules that disallows sales of energy drinks to children below 16 years of age and pregnant women, people suffering from caffeine allergy, athletes, and those with cardiac issues.
All distributors must print these warnings on drinks sold in the country, the official said.
