To protect and serve – this is the purpose of law enforcement. To accomplish this, top police squads require the latest technology and tools, not to mention the fastest cars to stay ahead.

From the more exotic Lamborghinis and Ferraris to the muscle packed Chevrolets and even the versatile Toyota, here are the quickest police squad cruisers from different countries.

1. Bugatti Veyron (UAE) - 2.5 Seconds; 407 km/h

The Bugatti Veyron is the successor to the previous flagship car – the Aston Martin 177 Q Series. Police officers in the UAE can chase down anything else on the road with the Bugatti Veyron. It is the world's fastest production car, so it comes as no surprise that it can reach a lightning speed of 407 km.

2. Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 (Vietnam) - 2.9 seconds; 349 km/h

The Aventador LP700-4 is an addition to several police fleets around the world, including Dubai and Europe has been going on.

Well, Vietnam looks to continue this trend as it has also wrapped a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. With a top speed of 349 km, the Italian exotic famous for its sleek and ominous styling is quick – very quick!

Most notably, Lamborghini launched the Aventador series to celebrate its 50th birthday and was fast to find a spot in some of the top police fleets. In Vietnam, the car is mostly used to run down criminals and speeders in super high-speed sports cars. The supercar looks to continue discouraging “pedal to the metal” driving etiquette.

3. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 (Indonesia) - 3.7 seconds; 330 km/h

The 2013 Gallardo LP560-4 police cruiser is currently being showcased inside a shopping mall in Indonesia and has stirred much attention in the country.

This speed demon is capable of reaching a lightning speed of 330km/h. Though such high speeds may be risky given the condition of roads in Indonesia but nevertheless, next time you find yourself resisting the urge to hit the gas in Indonesia, trust your instincts!

4. Porsche Panamera (Qatar) - 4.1 seconds; 318 km/h

With a top speed of 318 km/h, the Porsche Panamera is the fastest police cruiser in Qatar. Notably, the Qatari government is a shareholder of Porsche and that probably reflects in the fact that Porsche cars make up a great majority of the Qatari police fleet.

To augment the police fleet, the Qataris also have the BMW motorcycles and Toyota Land Cruiser V8s to patrol the roads.

The Panamera boasts a top speed of 318 km/h. And of course, it is not the fastest of the bunch, but it will still catch any criminal easily. Well, unless the pursuit involves an escaping Bugatti Veyron or Pagani Zonda.

5. Chevrolet Camaro (Mexico) - 4.9 seconds; 249 km/h

The Camaro is capable of going from 0-100 km/h in just under 5 seconds. And with a top speed of 249 km/h, it is undoubtedly the flagship police cruiser of the Mexican police force. In fact, Camaros is a popular choice for many police squads around the world.

Dubai has one under its belt and so do many states over in the US. The popularity of the Camaro is not a surprise. It was the official pace car at Indy more than a handful of times so there is no doubt that the Camaro is the perfect combination of speed and muscle.
