For the past few years, residents of Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) have been complaining of no feeder bus services for their master community.
Finally, their complaints have been addressed with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) starting the bus service from May 1, Emirates 24|7 can reveal.
“There is currently no feeder servicing JLT.
“However, we just finished the study and issued the service request to serve that area with route F40. It will be launched on May 1,” said Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali,
Director Planning & Business Development, RTA.
Dominick R, an Indian who has been staying in the JLT for the past two years, is quite elated to hear the news of the RTA starting feeder bus service.
“The building where I stay is in a cluster not facing Sheikh Zayed Road.
“I have to walk for almost 15 minutes every day to get to the Metro station. I don’t mind walking, but that’s not possible during summer.”
Susan Christian, a British expatriate, works in the DIFC.
She pays almost Dh800 per month on cab fare - that’s just back and forth from her building to the Metro station in JLT.
“I use the Metro every day - not just on weekdays, but also on weekends.
“I am very happy to know that RTA will commence feeder service. I will be able to save a lot of money.”
Last month, the RTA said the Dubai Metro project, since it first became operational in 2009, has had a positive impact on the value of land and commercial properties in the vicinity of the stations and areas linked by the feeder bus service.
