Flying via Sharjah? Expect parking woes at the airport

The 260-slots parking allocated for the departures hall at Sharjah International Airport has been temporarily closed due to maintenance work.

The maintenance work commenced on June 5, and is expected to take around a month, the airport’s management told Emirates 24|7.

Meanwhile, visitors to the airport are being redirected to the car park of the arrivals hall, which has 233 slots available.

The arrivals car park is at a couple of minutes walking distance from the departures hall, depending on where the car is parked, said the management.

Airport authorities estimate that the arrivals parking facility will be able to cope with the traffic coming from the departures area.

The main objective of the maintenance work is to provide a drainage system for the car park, where water gets logged during the rainy season. In addition, the exit area of the departure car park will be improved, informed the airport management.

Sharjah International Airport provides both short- and long-term parking options, and there is no limit on the time a car may be parked.
