Met and Traffic officials have motorists against speeding as the horizontal visibility in the next couple of days across the country is forecast to be low.

Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, at Abu Dhabi Police, warned the motorists against driving at high speed and called upon them to be cautious while at the wheel, particularly during a heavy build-up of fog.

'Khaleej Times' quoted Brigadier Al Harthi as saying that patrols have been heavily deployed on internal roads and highways across the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Trucks have been prohibited from driving on external roads until the haze dispels, he informed.

He called on motorists to slow down, watch the road, maintain a safe distance, turn on the low front car lights, urging motorists not to use the four hazard lights during foggy weather.

He also warned motorists against sudden brakes which could result in a crash due to low visibility.

School bus drivers and bus drivers transporting workers have also been advised to adhere to the above tips.

Motorists using highways at night and in the wee hours of the morning have been told to get updated with the forecast report before venturing out.
