It looks like a phone booth and only fits one person at a time. For a period of 6 minutes, you take your place in the booth behind closed doors and covered glass.

Once completed, a 3-page report about your health rolls out, without any doctor involved.

The Semt Self Clinic is a new facility of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) presented at the ongoing Gitex Technology Week.

Free of cost and available to residents, citizens and tourists, they will be distributed across malls, parks and beaches in Dubai.

These booths will undertake some basic health check-ups, explained Maitha Mherri, Head of e-services at the DHA.

Once seated on the chair, instructions such as 'put your index finger in the finger chip' and place your arm in the blood pressure band' will guide the person throughout the examination.

The result is an analysis of body fat, desired calorie in-take, hydration level, fatigue and mental stress levels.

"In the future this information will be linked to the Electronic Medical File (EMF)," said Mherri, adding that the information could be used by the DHA for research purposes as well.

The first booth will be placed at a DHA clinic. Based on the initial response these clinics will be distributed across the emirate.
