Fujairah authorities denied mobile phone reports that a young Emirati man was killed during a fight in which knives and swords were used in the emirate on Wednesday, a newspaper said on Thursday.

Police admitted a scuffle between knife-wielding men took place in Faseel neighbourhood in the eastern emirate but that no one was killed.

“The reports circulated on blackberry handsets were untrue….there was a fight and one national man was injured and taken to hospital but no one was killed,” police said in a statement carried by the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej.

Maid killed, employer hurt in road crash in Dibba

An Indian housemaid was killed while her Emirati employer and a Bangladeshi private driver were injured after their car rammed into the back of a truck near Dibba Fujeirah, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The Emirati woman and her maid were on their way from Dibba to Dubai when their car got stuck in the rear of the truck after hitting its back.

Police blamed the Bangladeshi driver for the accident on the grounds he did not leave enough space with the vehicle in front of him.

Worker to be executed for killing RAK employer

A criminal court in Ras Al Khaimah sentenced an Asian worker to death for murdering his employer by hitting him on the head with a sharp object.

The unnamed worker was arrested in 2010 on suspicion of killing his employer following an argument at the work site. He first denied the charges before confessing to the crime during interrogation.

The court ordered his execution by shooting after the victim’s relatives refused to pardon the killer.
