World’s tallest man at the Grand Mosque in Makkah
Muslims at Friday’s open air prayers at the Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabia stampeded at the end of the prayer towards a man who was sat in the middle. The stampede sparked brief alert among the mosque guards before they realised it was a cordial rush.
Moments later, the men were seen surrounding another man who towered nearly a metre above them. He was not standing on top of a chair as he was Ghulam Shabbir, the world’s tallest man—at 2.55 metres.
The Pakistani man, who entered Guinness book of records, is visiting Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage. He was at Friday’s prayers in Makkah when he was spotted by the crowd.
“Many of them rushed after the prayers to greet Shabbir and shake hands with him,” Sharq newspaper said.
