Majority of residents in the UAE are likely to welcome the New Year staying at home or at work, according to a survey carried out by Emirates 24/7.
The online poll reveals that 46 per cent of the respondents who participated will opt to stay at home and relax as they welcome 2016.
These residents could just watch the fireworks on their screens or spend time with family and friends as they ring in the New Year.
The next on the list are 37 per cent of residents who will be busy at work and have no plans of partying. They would come into the category of those who will sleep on time on New Year’s Eve to work the next day.
Some residents (7 per cent) plan to fly out to celebrate the occasion followed by 5 per cent who plan to head to the desert on this much awaited day of the year.
Despite the festive deals running in nearly all the malls in the country, only 3 per cent plan to shop as they bid farewell to 2015.
The least number of residents (just a 2 per cent) will be in the party mode. These will be the ones who will be heading to the many party circuits being planned on New Year’s Eve.
A previous YouGov poll also shows that a big number of UAE residents will be staying back in the UAE for New Year.
Majority (67 per cent of the residents) will be embracing everything the UAE has to offer this festive season.
Of this number, 37 per cent of respondents plan to stay at home over the festive period, and 30 per cent will be taking a staycation in the UAE, state the YouGov findings.
Taking in the delights of the Emirates of course will also be a number of visitors to the country with one quarter (27 per cent) of residents hosting out of town visitors during the festivities as well. Just 14 per cent of residents claim they will travel outside the UAE during the year-end period.
