None of the Indian and Pakistani schools in Dubai are outstanding, according to the latest school inspection report made public by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai.
The report also came down heavily on Pakistani schools rating two of the three schools in Dubai as unsatisfactory. Among the 21 schools offering Indian curriculum in Dubai that were inspected in 2010-2011 three of them have been rated as unsatisfactory.
Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General at the KHDA this morning said the main reason why none of the Indian or Pakistani schools were able to reach the “outstanding”, level was because of lack of consistency in maintaining the same standard throughout their various sections.
“In most schools the emphasis is more on high school, especially the last two years. Several schools have reached outstanding levels in different sections but it is not uniform. Inspectors found improvements in almost all of the schools. Three schools improved their overall rating and most of the other schools achieved some improvement in aspects of their work such as the quality of teaching, students’ learning or leadership,” said Karam.
Among the fundamental concern of parents was the Arabic skills of their children. Among the 25,000 parents surveyed, most were pleased with their children’s progress in English and mathematics. “Most concern was regarding progress in Arabic and around 10 per cent of parents (1,700) feel that progress in this subject is poor,” the report said.
