Israa Wal Miraj: Three-day weekend for everyone in UAE

The ministries and federal government bodies will remain closed on Sunday, May 25, to mark Isra Wal Miraj.
 
Work will resume on Monday May, 26, according to a circular issued on Tuesday by Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.
 
He said that the Isra Wal Miraj public holiday has been moved from Monday to Sunday. In accordance to the federal law, Qattami explained, the public holidays could be moved to the beginning or end of the week when they fall between two working days.
 
The minister congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Members of Supreme Council, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates on this occasion.
 
He also greeted the Government, people of the UAE and residents on the occasion, wishing more progress and prosperity to the Arab and Muslim nations.

May 25 holiday for private sector also

Marking the Holy Isra and Mi'raj anniversary, the UAE Labour Ministry has announced that Sunday May 25 is an official paid holiday for all employees working in private sector companies operating in the country.

The announcement was issued by Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour, pursuing provisions of Article 74 of the Federal Law No. 8 of 1980 concerning regulations in labour relations and its amendments.
