Issuing bad cheques can land you in jail. The fear of that happening led employees of a company to allegedly try to steal back dud cheques issued by their employer.

The three accused, including a woman, allegedly stole a bag contained three bad cheques issued by their boss, when the man to whom the cheques had been issued visited the company to solve the issue amicably, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Wasim Nawaf, 29, Syrian, manager, testified that on March 26, he visited a company in the Al Qusais area to solve the issue of bounced cheques issued by the manager of that company, who he claimed had later fled the country.

SJJ, (woman) 30, Indian, director, asked Wasim to show her the two bad cheques.

“When she saw the cheques she tried to snatch them, so I had to push her away.

But suddenly, a man surprised me from the behind holding my neck and putting it under his arm and another man also held me from my trousers. I escaped, drove away and called the police,” Nawaf testified.

Police found the bag inside the company but the cheques were not there.

Sergeant Taha Abdul Rahman, testified that he met the complainant at a petrol station and he looked like he had been in a fight - his shirt was torn.

The Police arrested the woman and SAA, 31, Pakistani, driver, and AVJ, 27, Ethiopian, worker, and accused them with forcible theft.
