Laundry in balcony? Fine of Dh500 in Sharjah

Sharjah residents who violate rules on drying laundry or installing dish antennae in balconies of apartments will face fines of up to Dh500.

According to Riad Abdullah Eilan, Acting Director-General, Sharjah Municipality residents caught violating these rules will be fined Dh250, to be paid within one week from the date of issue. And in the event of a delay in payment, the amount would be doubled to Dh500.

He was quoted by local dailies as saying that in the first three months of this year, municipality authorities recorded 1,402 such violations.

Last year 4,834 cases were reported.

The municipality has intensified the campaign with the aim to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the city, Eilan added.

As part of the campaign, authorities are also distributing brochures in Arabic, English Hindi and Farsi to create awareness among residents.
