Man drowns 'flying' fishing in Khorfakkan sea

A Filipino drowned while trying a new sea sport fishing device off Khorfakkan coast although he is a trained employee at a sea sport lease company in the Eastern UAE port, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The man tied himself with a rope which was tied to a boat and flew in air as the boat cruised into the water before falling down and hitting the water.

Police, quoted by 'Emarat Al Youm' daily, said the victim had refused to wear a life vest despite his colleague’s plea before trying the game.

“He hit the water with a life vest. His colleague tried to rescue him but could not. He rushed back to the beach and informed the police,” the paper said, adding that the boy was later found by a diver working for a nearby hotel.
