It’s that time again when the city works on the finishing touches for the biggest party to see off another year.
After having broken the world record for the largest and longest fireworks display in the world for the NYE 2014 celebrations, plans are on the way to make this year's New Year’s Eve to be even more spectacular than ever before.
While the Burj Khalifa goes futuristic, EDM headliners Martin Garrix and David Guetta are both jetting into Dubai, while Malayalam cinema fans find all roads leading to Mammootty in 2016.
‘Emirates 24|7’ puts together the best of the rest in this one night of decadence and revelry:
Burj Khalifa Fireworks - Downtown Dubai
Great for: Theatric and free
One of the most coveted spots in Dubai for New Year’s Eve, a view of the Burj Khalifa fireworks can shoot up real estate prices and prompt coffee houses to sell premium seats at spiraling high prices.
This year, the Downtown Dubai New Year’s Eve Gala will have clearly defined themed-acts, each highlighting an inspiring facet of the emirate, stated Emaar, with the crowning glory being the visual-masterpiece of the Burj Khalifa fireworks and light displays.
This year’s futuristic theme will see the façade narrate a story that will be presented in multiple hues and forms, each resonating with Dubai residents and the global community.
Visitors to Downtown Dubai can watch the spectacle from specially allocated viewing points in Burj Park, as well as from Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, where visitors can view the spectacle free of cost.
They are recommended to arrive before 6pm and take public transport to arrive at the venue, while the Roads and Transport Authority plans to extend the operational hours of the Dubai Metro for their convenience.
The event will be broadcast live on international TV channels as well as live-streamed online at www.mydowntowndubai.com.
Online visitors can choose from three different viewing cameras for a total perspective of the event.
Martin Garrix at Meydan
Great for: EDM fans
If electronic dance music is your mantra, then nothing beats the ‘Sensation’ night at Meydan this NYE with DJ Martin Garrix at the decks.
The party promises a spectacular beginning to the New Year as the Dutch DJ and music producer performs live with city’s memorizing skyline as his backdrop.
Earlier this year, Garrix was voted World’s Number 2 DJ by DJ Mag in their Top 100 list, best known for his breakout international single ‘Animals’ in 2013.
Upon release, the single climbed to No. 1 on the Beatport Top Songs Chart and held the spot for four weeks, receiving 100 million streams on Spotify and over half a billion views on YouTube.
Earlier this year, Garrix collaborated with global music star Usher on their smash single ‘Don’t Look Down’ and ‘The Only way is Up’ with mentor and friend Tiësto.
Nicolas Vandenabeele, Marketing Director of Envie Events, stated: “Last year was Martin Garrix’s debut in the Middle East, which was highly awaited by the fans in the region at Sensation Dubai 2014, where he performed in front of a sold out 15,000 fans.
“This year he is back in Dubai to headline the biggest New Years’ Eve party in the region. Meydan is the perfect venue and the show will enjoy the perfect backdrop of the world renowned Burj Khalifa NYE fireworks.”

Mammootty at Global Village

Mammootty is expected to take to the stage at 8pm, with John Brittas hosting the event.
But the music and dance extravaganza on the main stage from 8pm to 10pm is just a part of an “amazing schedule” of New Year entertainment that is being put on, say organisers.
The Ferris Wheel at the heart of Fantasy Island will feature a giant illuminated 10-second countdown to help build the excitement to midnight, to make way for the musical fireworks display.
A Jet Ski stunt show will thrill at the Global Village Lake, followed by a special New Year's Eve parade that will wind its way through the site in the evening and finish up in front of the main stage.

La Petite Maison at DIFC
