Reserved parking by any person or foundation, whether governmental or private or semi-governmental, will require official permission from Mawaqif.
If such permission is not obtained, the individuals or the foundation will be subjected to punishment by law. This has been confirmed by the Department of Transport (DOT) at Abu Dhabi.
DOT added that anyone committing this offense will be fined according to the law of Mawaqif No. 18 of 2009, quoted 'Al Khaleej' newspaper.
DOT added that those who wish to reserve parking slots should visit their Customer Service Centre, located in Marina Centre and apply for a permit. Mawaqif has launched this service for companies or organisation who wishes for a reserved parking slot. Banks, hotels, diplomatic corps, hospitals, construction companies, and the imams of mosques can apply for the permit.
All non-governmental institutions will have to pay Dh200 fees for every reserved parking while government institutions will be exempted. Violators will be fined Dh1,000.
Mawaqif will issue a fine of up to Dhs 2000 in case any vehicle is towing from any reserved parking and if the affected person or department informs the police of such violation.
