New initiative to help fishermen in emergencies

Marasina Diving Team of Dubai Municipality has come up with the new ‘Halo Help’ initiative in collaboration with Dubai Fishermen Co-operative Association to help fishermen in emergencies, said Khalid Suletin, Head of Environment Emergency Office under Environment Department at the civic body.

‘Halo Help is initiated to provide immediate help to our fishermen by just making a call to the associations’ office on 04-2809991,” said Khalid Suletin who is also a member of the association’s director board.

Emergencies like engine damage, losing nets or fans under water are often reported.

He said fishermen normally have to pay large sums of money for emergency help when they hire other commercial agencies. For this service from DM diving team, they only have to pay for oxygen cylinder and to meet the expense of reaching the accident spot.

According to him, Dubai Municipality has a team of 22 diving experts. The team has also started training sessions for those who wish to master diving at relatively less expense.
