Newborn baby found near waste bin in capital

A two-day old baby was found near a waste bin in Abu Dhabi and taken to hospital in a bad condition, the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said on Monday.

Two men, an Indian and a Filipino, found the baby close to the bin near the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry building on the Corniche road and phoned the police, the paper said.

The baby was in a bad condition as he was suffering from dehydration and his umbilical cord had been improperly severed by hand, it said.

“The baby has been admitted to the Corniche Obstetrics Hospital while the case is being investigated by police,” the paper said.
