Rain stops fast-food home deliveries

Published

The cool, wet weather, is perfect to satiate fast-food cravings, but not if you are living in Jumeriah Lake Towers, Tecom or Media city. Or pretty much, any part of Dubai.

Most prominent fast-food joints have blocked their home delivery map today.

The reason: “the bad weather”.

A resident of Tecom complained of being unable to order in KFC lunch.

“I’m craving for the zinger burger, but they (KFC staff) said they are not taking any orders for home delivery now,” she said, adding, “Looks like I’d have to step out and wade through the puddles to get myself a burger.”

When Emirates24|7 contacted the KFC hotline, we were told the same.

“We are sorry but we are not taking orders for home delivery at the moment. It has been stopped temporarily due to the bad weather,” their call centre agent informed.

“Please call after 45 minutes, and if the weather improves then we will restart our mobile service.”

She did a quick check on her system and told us that the service was discontinued to areas like Media City, Dubai Marina, Gardens and Al Qusais. It appears that the service is “closed to all areas”.

“I’m sitting in Sharjah, and even I can’t get myself a home delivery order,” she added.

Even McDonalds has shut down their home delivery service.

“Sorry, we don’t have any home delivery now. Only two areas are currently open for delivery – Business By and Jumeriah Beach Road,” informed their call centre agent.

“Please do call a little later. It might change in the next 30-40 minutes. I cannot guarantee it but you could try.”

The outlets, however, are open.
