Road accidents killed 13 people and injured 144 in Dubai last month and nearly 38 per cent of the dead were Indians, according to Dubai Traffic police.
The casualties resulted from 171 accidents, far lower than the 290 mishaps that took place in the emirate in July 2009.
But the report, published in the Arabic language daily Al Khaleej, said the death toll in July last year was lower, standing at 10. There were also 163 injuries.
The paper quoted Saif Al Mazroui, Acting Director of the Dubai Traffic Police, as saying the dead last month included five Indians and two Emiratis.
In 2009, around 1,827 road mishaps killed 225 people and injured 2,884, he said.
