Three rescued from Downtown fire; Dubai Civil Defence reports no injuries

Three workers were rescued from the fire that broke out in a building under construction in Dubai’s Downtown area on Sunday morning.

The blaze, which erupted in Emaar’s Fountain Views, originated in the building’s parking lot, according to a report by Dubai Civil Defence.

In an official statement, the authority said a call was received at 5.35am to report the fire, with Civil Defence teams arriving on the scene at 5.40am.

As officials battled the blaze that broke out between the fifth and the seventh floor of Fountain Views, three workers were also rescued at the time, with help from Dubai Police teams.

The workers were transferred to the waiting paramedics team, but are in ‘good condition and sustained no injuries’ according to Civil Defence.

By 8am, Dubai Media Office confirmed cooling operations had begun, with the fire under contro.

However, in the fire and the ongoing operations resulted in roads in the Downtown area closed to traffic for the duration.

A large plume of black smoke is still visible hours after the blaze broke out, with official images released indicating the fire broke out on one of the lower flowers of the building site.

No official cause of the fire has been reported.

Earlier story: A fire that broke out in the morning hours of Sunday in a building under construction in Dubai’s Downtown area is now under control.

Dubai Media Office confirmed the incident, stating the blaze broke out in the Fountain Views towers, with Dubai Civil Defence authorities launching cooling operations around 8.45am.

The building, which is owned by property developer Emaar, saw a blaze erupt around 6am, with Civil Defence authorities arriving on the scene within minutes.

Media Office also confirmed no injuries were reported in lieu of the blaze.

In a statement on Twitter, Media Office posted: “Dubai Civil Defence brings under control fire that broke out in under-construction Fountain Views Towers in Downtown.

“Cooling operations are underway and ambulance units are on site; no injuries reported.”

However, in the fire and the ongoing operations has resulted in roads in the Downtown area closed to traffic.

According to Media Office, Roads leading to ‘Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard from Cinema Crossroads are closed and traffic has been diverted to the flyover’.

Meanwhile, Interchange 7 leading to Burj Khalifa is closed and vehicles of employees have been redirected to Fashion Parking.
