The latest list of the 100 hottest employers in the Europe Middle East and Africa region (Emea) includes a healthy mix of UAE-based blue-chip companies.

According to the 100 Most InDemand Employers in Emea list published by social networking platform LinkedIn, the most-sought after UAE-based employer on the list is Emirates airline.

The company has been ranked at No. 6 most in-demand in Emea, based on billions of interactions from LinkedIn's 380 million plus members.

The next UAE firm on the list is yet another airline, Etihad, ranked as the 20th most in-demand employer.

These two companies not only feature in the Emea list but also on LinkedIn’s global list of top employers.

A list released by the social networking website last year placed these two leading airlines to the list of the most desirable employers in the world.

Emirates was placed on the 52nd slot last year on the global list, up from 68th in 2013 ranking.

Etihad, on the other hand, was as the 82nd most desirable employer in the list.

These two companies were the only ones to feature from the world of aviation. No other airline made it to 2014 global list.

Besides these two UAE carriers, construction company Emaar also features among heavyweight multinationals of the world in the Emea list.

The company has been rated as the 27th most in demand employer followed by telecom provider Etisalat at number 30. At 68th position is Jumeirah Group.

A troika of local banks also features on the list: National Bank of Abu Dhabi is ranked at number 73, closely followed Mashreq in the 74th slot. Dubai Islamic Bank is at number 79 and the Chalhoub Group has been rated as the 98th company that Emea employees would like to work for.

The most sought-after employer in the region is none other than Apple, which will be soon inaugurating its first official stores in the Gulf region in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Top 5 most desirable employers in the Emea region include Google at No. 2, followed by Procter & Gamble, Facebook and Unilever.

The ranking are not based on any survey but are deduced by the behaviour of professionals as they explore their career journey on LinkedIn.

The InDemand methodology includes reach, engagement and job activity, measured by member interactions with employers’ company pages, employee profiles and job postings on the website.
