Latest: At 10am, Dubai Police reported an accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, after Al Rashidiya Bridge, southbound towards Jebel Ali.
Accidents on the Dubai-Al Ain Road have created gridlock on the busy highway, with congestion reported at 8.45am.
Motorists were being cautioned to expect delays on E66, even as two separate accidents caused further gridlock on southbound Al Khail Road, towards Jebel Ali.
Meanwhile, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have posted that temporary road closures will be in effect this afternoon, with motorists advised to use alternative routes.
Temporary road closures
The RTA has posted on its official Twitter account that temporary road closures will be in effect today from 11.30am until 1pm on Al Asayel Street, between Oud Metha and DIFC.
The authority tweeted: “An expected delay might happen between this period. Please use the alternative roads like Al Khail and 2nd Zabeel Road.”
Crashes on E66, E44
There are delays and congestion on E66, towards Al Ain city, with commuters reporting traffic delays on the highway since 8am.
Two of the accidents are reported near the Nad Al Sheba exit, while the third is located near the Manama Street cross-section.
Commuters switching over to Al Khail Road will find an accident reported on E44 before the Meydan Road exit towards Dubai Mall /Business Bay Bridge at 9am.
Further up the same busy road in the same timeframe, another accident is reported on E44 Al Aweer Road just after the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road intersection, coming from International City towards Dubai.
Sharjah commuters who are using Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road should take caution too, with two minor incidents also reported around 9.15am, one southbound while approaching the Dubai Investments Park roundabout and a second near Al Khawaneej Road in the same direction.
Commuters who have connected on to Hessa Street from DIP will find congestion heading towards Sheikh Zayed Road.
The good news is, around 9.30am, commuters are reporting the heavy rush hour traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, starting from Al Barsha towards World Trade Centre is finally clearing.
