Transporting food in Dubai: What sticker colour says

Did you know: a refrigerated vehicle sports a green sticker, a heated vehicle adorns a red one, a vehicle transporting dry products displays a yellow sticker and an orange sticker indicates the transportation of frozen food.

In a move towards guaranteeing the safe transportation of food in the emirate, Dubai Municipality recently approved 9,000 vehicles to run their business.

Each vehicle transporting food products must comply with the hygiene requirements issued by the municipality as part of a safe food transportation awareness campaign.

According to the municipality, many violations in using the proper vehicles were observed recently.

“Many health-related problems have been caused due to the lack of food transport vehicles that meet the hygiene specifications and requirements,” said Khalid Mohammed Sherif, Director of the Food Control Department at Dubai Municipality.

“This step is significant since food transport forms an important part of food conservation and safety.”

Khalid called upon all businesses dealing with food in Dubai to ensure their conformity with the hygiene requirements for their vehicles.

Meanwhile, officers and inspectors will control the follow-up of food vehicles that violate the laws in all areas of the Emirate of Dubai and will take the necessary action against offenders.
