Truck rams divider, topples over in RAK

An Asian driver in his 30s suffered serious injury after the truck he was driving crashed into the road divider and toppled on its side.

The accident took place in Ras Al Khaimah and is the second such accident at the same spot in less than a month.

Colonel Ahmed Al Naqbi, Director, Department of Traffic and Patrols, Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the truck driver lost control on the bridge, crashed into the divider and settled on one of its sides.

Ambulances, rescue and police patrols, in cooperation with the Civil Defence Department rushed to the scene and managed to extricate the driver alive and move him to hospital.

The accident caused the truck’s fuel to leak on to the road as well, but the emergency teams on the site and the police patrols re-organised traffic to ensure no further mishaps.

Colonel Al Naqbi appealed to all drivers of heavy vehicles to exercise caution and to rest as soon as they were feeling fatigued.
