UAE Red Crescent spends Dh43 million to repair Aden's infrastructure

The UAE Red Crescent Authority has spent over Dh43 million for repairing Aden’s infrastructure damaged by the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

The crisis for Aden’s people had become severe after water and sewerage networks were damaged by the war.

The UAE Red Crescent spent about Dh23 million to repair the damages to Aden’s water network, including purchasing well water pumps worth Dh6 million.

The UAE Red Crescent is working on repairing the city’s sewerage network which is expected to cost about Dh5 million. This project will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, after supply of sewage pumps, electric panels will be installed. In the second phase, the pumps will be installed.

For water projects and providing safe drinking water, the UAE Red Crescent Authority has provided pumps needed for extracting water from wells.

The Red Crescent is also supporting the municipality of Aden to clean up all the districts and residential areas of the city at a cost of Dh4.5 million which include purchase of vehicles, 1,600  garbage containers and 16 carriers to collect garbage.

The Red Crescent is also working to repair the Corniche in Aden at a cost of Dh4 million. It will also help repair eight gardens at a cost of Dh16 million.
