UAE fire engines helped control and extinguish a blaze that erupted in a southern leader’s home in Khor Maksar city on Monday.

Firefighters and men from the Popular Resistance Forces successfully douzed the fire before it spread to neighbouring houses and evacuated people to safety, reported 'Emarat Al Youm'.

General Mohammad Msaed Aldhali, Director, Security, Aden, praised all those who were involved in controlling the fire.

“Authorities in Aden are making great efforts along with our UAE brothers to ensure safety and security,” said Aldhali.

Ali Mohsen Aldhalaa, an activist, said: “UAE fire trucks that arrived at the site not only effectively douzed the blaze but also instilled confidence in residents.”

“Aden does not have good fire trucks. And those that existed were old and rickety, and that added to casualties in the past,” he added.

“It is noteworthy that UAE is contributing in supporting the security apparatus in Aden and helping in rehabilitation,” Aldhalla said.

Meanwhile, Aldhali said that residents will witness significant security improvements shortly as more trained personnel are joining the police headquarters, and added that an operations room is also being set up and emergency numbers are being distributed so that citizens can report incidents and seek help.

About 4,000 members of the Popular Resistance Forces will be trained under the supervision of the UAE security team, the report said.
