Dubai launches 'Meet the CEO' initiative

Government of Dubai Media Office organised a meeting between Chairman of Nakheel, Ali Rashid Lootah, and Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, GDMO, Mona Al Marri, as well as prominent UAE media leaders. "Meet the CEO" initiative aims to remove formalities and further cooperation and communication between media representatives and senior government and semi-government officials.

The Government of Dubai Media Office said the meeting was the first in a series of periodic meetings between media persons and government and semi-government officials as part of the broader strategy of the office to maintain open and candid communication channels. Moreover, the initiative is to highlight the role of media outlets as a trusted partner tasked with discussing issues of concern to the community.

Commencing the meeting, Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office Mona Al Marri affirmed the office’s keenness to create opportunity that would ensure continuity of positive dialogue so as to scale up the cooperation ties between media sector and government and semi-government sectors. Al Marri also pointed out that such cooperation ties will keep the community abreast of the latest development projects and future ambitious plans in Dubai. This, Al Marri explained, will familiarise the community about the efforts exerted by the government to achieve the progress of the nation and preserve the country’s gains.

Al Marri also said, "Through this meeting we aim to initiate a constructive dialogue that is unconventional and innovative, in line with the innovative methods adopted by Dubai, the city of innovation."

For his part, Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah highlighted the company’s new projects as well as expansion projects. He also traced the progress of the company for the past few years and underscored its future development plans that aim to keep pace with the economic boom witnessed across the UAE in all fields.

Lootah expressed his appreciation over the exerted efforts and innovative initiatives offered by the Government of Dubai Media Office, before he thanked the members of the Media Office for holding such a fruitful meeting that would open the ground for discussion of issues related to the community and its future.

The meeting further unveiled the strategic partnership between the Dubai-based developer Nakheel and the Arab Media Forum for the second consecutive year. The forum will be held on the 12th and 13th of May, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The partnership between Nakheel and AMF is reflects the increased cooperation between the media sector and the business community. It also underscores UAE companies’ keenness to support initiatives like the AMF which aims to develop the local and regional media industry and thereby have a positive impact on the community at large.

The chairperson of the Organising Committee of AMF and president of Dubai Press Club, Mona Al Marri, welcomed Nakheel as a strategic partner for the 14th edition of AMF and extended her appreciation for the developer’s continued support. Al Marri noted that the partnership reflects recognition of the role the Arab Media Forum plays in cementing the UAE’s position as a leading media hub that has contributed to development of the media industry in the region.

Al Marri added, "We are pleased that the Arab Media Forum has the support of one of our most important national establishments. We are confident that this partnership with Nakheel is a stepping stone toward continued success. We are looking forward to enhanced cooperation between the media and the private sector for the best interest of our community."

For his part, Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said, "The Arab Media Forum has firmly established itself as the major leading media event in the Arab world, and we support this event with great pride. We are honored to welcome the region’s leading media personalities, intellectuals and executives, and look forward to showcasing Nakheel's current and future projects that continue to bring new perspectives to Dubai."

Organised by the Dubai Press Club, the two-day event, held under the theme "New Perspectives", will see the participation of Arab and international media elites, journalists, intellectuals and analysts. The forum offers a fresh look at the issues and challenges transforming the media industry through a series of sessions, workshops and interactive activities.
