Gen. Mohamed, Obama, Qaboos confer

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received a telephone call from US President Barack Obama who briefed him on the final nuclear deal about Iran's nuclear programme and the guarantees provided for in the agreement.

Gen. Sheikh Mohamed expressed the hope that this agreement would put an end to Iran's military nuclear ambitions and bolster the hope for making the region free of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) to consolidate the foundations of regional and international peace and stability.

During the telephone call, President Obama emphasised that the United States will strengthen its partnership with the members of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) to counter all security challenges.

The two sides touched upon the situation in Yemen and the Arab coalition's efforts to back legitimacy and restore the Yemeni people's hope for stability.

They also touched upon friendly cooperation and relations between their two countries and ways of promoting and enhancing these relations to serve their common interests.

The two sides exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern and the latest developments in the region.

The two sides expressed their common interest in supporting the foundations of peace and stability in the region.

Gen. Mohamed, Sultan Qaboos discuss fraternal relations

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman, yesterday in a telephone call, discussed fraternal relations between their two countries and ways of bolstering these relations.

During the phone call, the two sides discussed the outstanding bilateral relations between the UAE and Oman, aspects of their existing cooperation in the light of the keen interest of the leaders of both countries in consultation and coordination to serve the common interests of their peoples.

They also exchanged views on a number of topics of common concern.

General Sheikh Mohammed and Sultan Qaboos exchanged greetings on the occasion of the advent of Eid Al Fitr and prayed to Allah Almighty to bless their two brotherly countries with further progress and prosperity and continued security and stability.

Sultan Qaboos asked Gen. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to convey greetings and best wishes for good health to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Receives top-scoring students

Gen. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received a group of Grade 12 top-scoring students at Al Bateen Palace. 

The 23 male and female top scorers completed studies at schools supervised by Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) and were among the top-scorers at the level of the UAE and in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Dr Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director-General of Adec and Mohammed Salim Al Dhaheri, Adec’s Executive Director of School Operations, accompanied the students during their meeting with Gen. Sheikh Mohamed.

Gen. Sheikh Mohamed congratulated the students and expressed his pride in their achievement. He also greeted their families and schools and their managements for encouraging the students and providing an ideal environment for them.

He also underlined the importance of promoting the values of excellence in education as a pillar of human and civilisational development.

He noted that education in the UAE receives unlimited support from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who takes great interest in following up on the sector.

Education, the Crown Prince further noted, is the source of national qualified human resources who are the basis for progress and building in all vital sectors.

Sheikh Mohamed also urged the students to continue their hard work to build on their achievements, attain more skills and achieve self-development.

He talked to the students about their ambitions for higher studies in the future and about serving their country and society.

Dr. Al Qubaisi expressed appreciation for the leadership's unlimited support to, and follow up of, the educational sector to empower students to attain the highest ranks.

Federal National Council speaker and members

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received last night at Al Bateen Palace Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) and members of the Council at the end of the 15th legislative term.

Sheikh Mohamed exchanged Ramadan greetings with the FNC speaker and members who prayed to Allah the Almighty to bestow upon President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan  good health and prosperity.

Sheikh Mohamed said the UAE had made a giant stride in expanding political participation, thanks to the President's keen efforts to enhance the FNC's role.

On behalf of the FNC members, Al Murr offered thanks to the country's leadership for the unlimited support to the Council.

Receives top lawyers

General Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received the Board of Directors of the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal consultants at Al Bateen Palace.

Gen. Mohamed exchanged Ramadan greetings with the board members, wishing welfare and progress for the UAE and for The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi exchanged cordial talks with them regarding the Association's objectives, activities and programmes implemented in the previous era are aimed to promote the profession in the UAE.

He also wished success and good luck for the association, lawyers and Emirati national cadres working in the field to be able to discharge their mission to raise awareness and provision of legal advice among various segments of the society.

On behalf of members of the Association, Zayed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Consultants extended thanks and appreciation of the association members for the support provided by the wise leadership for lawyers and rule of law.

He also pointed to the achievements accomplished by the UAE at the regional level, which was translated in the UAE's ranking first in the World Justice Project's Rule of Law Index in the Middle East and Mena Region.

Lecture at Ramadan majlis

General Mohamed on Monday attended a lecture by Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills, and Special Advisor on Education Policy to the Secretary-General at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, at his Ramadan majlis.

The lecture was entitled, ‘Strong Educational Performance and Successful Educational Reforms: How to establish successful educational systems in the 21st century’.

Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC),  Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs (ZHO), Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a number of ministers, top officials, ambassadors and journalists attended the lecture.

Schleicher congratulated the UAE's leadership and people for the huge achievements accomplished in the field of education under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

He emphasised that the UAE is one of the top 10 countries among 70 nations across the world, which have managed to achieve a significant progress in the field of education ahead of many developed countries such as the US and those in Europe.

He added that the educational and technical developments made by the UAE in its educational system and the acquisition of global educational skills as well as utilising necessary potentials for the advancement of the educational process in the country would contribute to increasing the gross domestic product of the country at a high rate as a result of using advanced technology.
