Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, paid an inspection visit to Dubai International Airport on Sunday.
Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the work flow and services provided by Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) and their constant efforts to speed up procedures.
Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Director-General of Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri and Deputy Director General of Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor accompanied Sheikh Hamdan during his visit.
During his inspection tour, Sheikh Hamdan listened to a detailed presentation about work procedures and systems applied in Dubai International Airport. Crown Prince of Dubai kicked off his visit from GDRFA’s Customer Service Centre in Concourse 3, a one-window service centre for all services related to visa, residency and e-gates. He was also briefed on GCC residents’ entry permit via https://www.ednrd.ae/GCCIND/home.do.
Sheikh Hamdan also inspected the points of entry and departure in Concourse 3 at Dubai International Airport and discussed with GDRFA’s staff the requirements to speed up work procedures and its compatibility with best practices applied in international airports. Sheikh Hamdan also discussed with GDRFA’s staff methods to further enhance services at the airport. He also inspected GDRFA’s Operation Room and the Advanced Passenger Information Centre at Dubai Airport.
Sheikh Hamdan praised the professionalism and dedication of GDRFA’s young national cadres and requested them to provide their best efforts to develop and modernise services.
He lauded the advanced design of the e-gates and its effect on speeding up and smoothing passenger traffic. Sheikh Hamdan indicated that developing and facilitating government services is key objective in Dubai Strategy 2012.
He also affirmed that training and qualifying national cadres and developing infrastructures is our gateway to the future and a cornerstone for UAE’s excellence.
Sheikh Hamdan directed senior officials of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs to prepare for Dubai Expo 2020 that is expected to attract over 25 million visitors, 70 per cent of them coming from oversees. He requested GDRFA’s officials to be in full alert to service this huge number of visitors and tourist and provide best-quality services during the international event.
He also requested airport authorities to prepare for the forecasted increase in tourist numbers over the coming months and during the summer holiday session.
Concluding his visit, Sheikh Hamdan thanked all members of Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs wishing them all the success in carrying out their duties and serving their country.
