Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, has given directives to set up the 'Nas' Shooting Team, appointing Sheikh Ahmad bin Hasher Al Maktoum as head of the new team.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hasher Al Maktoum is the UAE Olympic champion who earned the UAE its first ever gold medal in shooting at the double trap event at the Athens Olympics in 2004.

Commenting on Sheikh Hamdan's directives, Sheikh Hasher said he was honoured by this national responsibility for the new team.

Sheikh Ahmed thanked Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the decision, and said, "HH the Crown Prince of Dubai walks in the steps of his father, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in backing sports."

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hasher pledged to transfer his shooting experience to the team and to establish a solid foundation of skilled junior male and female shooters, and to add to the achievements made by national shooters at Olympic events.

The Nas team will use an elite class of trainers, according to Sheikh Ahmed, who also stated that a press conference will be held in the near future to announce the action plan of the team in implementation of the directives of the Crown Prince.
