Holidays announced to mourn Sheikh Saqr

The nation mourns the passing away of His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi with closure of government offices and flying flags at half-mast.

Official mourning has been declared with effect from Wednesday for a week during which flags will be flown at half-mast.

Flags on all government buildings will fly half-mast in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for seven days.

Local government offices in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah will be closed for three days from Wednesday. Government offices in Sharjah will remain closed for three days from Thursday.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the new Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has declared 40 days of official mourning with effect from Wednesday during which flags will be flown at half-mast in the emirate. Local government offices will be closed for a week from Wednesday as a mark of respect to the late ruler.

No holidays have been declared for the private sector in the UAE.
