Kalba City Municipal Council to be formed

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree on the formation of the Kalba City Municipal Council.

The Emiri Decree No. 15 for the year 2016, in its first article, states that the Kalba City Municipal Council will be chaired by Mohammed Abdullah Ali Saif Al Zaabi, while it names Saeed Salem Ahmed Khamis Al Naqbi, Mohammed Salem Al Shahm Al Kindi, Abdullah Mohammed Abdullah Al Amiri, Abdullah Ghanem Saif Ghanem Al Zaabi, Saif Hamad Ali bin Qayedi, Khalfan Saeed Rashid Al Kindi, Salem Abdullah Salem bin Sweidan and Rashid Khamis Saeed Saif Al Mazrouei as members.

The second article stipulates that the Council shall elect a deputy chairman at its first meeting among the members, and the election shall be held by way of a secret ballot. The deputy chairman shall be elected by a majority of those present. The elected deputy chairman can replace and assume all powers of the chairman in case of his absence or if the post becomes vacant.

The term of council membership is two years starting from the first meeting and it shall continue to discharge its activities until the end of the term, and the appointment of new members. Old members can be re-elected for a fresh term.

The Decree is effective from the date of issuance and the authorities concerned should implement all its provisions. The Decree shall be published in the official ‘Gazette’.
