UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayan received His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi at Al Bateen Palace in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting was attended by Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
UAE President asked Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to lead the UAE delegation to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Consultative Summit that will be held tomorrow in Riyadh.
Sheikh Khalifa expressed hopes that the upcoming summit will achieve the goals of the GCC people for more cooperation between our countries in order to enhance the progress of the council and highlight its role regionally and internationally.
His Highness said that the regular and consultative meeting of GCC leaders reflects positively in what was achieved so far by the council and he wished that this summit headed by King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia will represent a new milestone to enhance GCC collaboration.
The meeting was attended by Ruler's Representative in the Western Region Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Presidential Aviation Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, other Sheikhs, dignitaries and senior officials.
Khalifa receives award-winning Emirati poets
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan received on Sunday the Emirati poet Rashid Ahmed Al Rumaithi who called on the President to dedicate to him the 'Banner of Poetry' he had recently won at the 'Million's Poet' contest in its Fifth season.
Million's Poet is a pan-Arab reality show introduced by the Abu Dhabi TV of the UAE television network.
Al Rumaithi was accompanied by Poet Ahmed Bin Hayyay Al Mansouri, who won the second place in the contest.
Sheikh Khalifa expressed his pleasure for the dedication, which reflects the development of the cultural and literary movement in the UAE, especially in the field of poetry.
He also asserted that the UAE will give continues to support to every effort, be it in the artistic, literary, cultural or sports fields, so as to enhance our cultural unity.
The poets expressed their pride and happiness in meeting the President and presented His Highness with the Banner as an expression of gratitude to his encouragement and sponsorship of the ongoing cultural movement in the UAE.
Mohammed honours SKGEP winners
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Duba, on Sunday honoured winners of the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme (SKGEP) in a ceremony at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain and Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.
Also present were Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs a number of sheikhs, ministers and senior state officials.
The ceremony, held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammad honoured outstanding performances of individuals and teams from federal organisations and bodies.
He honoured a number of national figures who contributed in laying the foundation of the federation and provided great services to the UAE and its people. He presented the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Scarf' to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region and the late Hamouda bin Ali bin Ghanim Al Dhaheri, that was received by his son Mohammed, and to late Ahmad bin Sultan bin Sulayem Al Falasi, that was received by his son Sultan.
He also presented 'Mohammed bin Rashid Scarf' to the late Saif Saeed Ghobash Al Marri, which was received by his son Omar Saif Ghobash, the current UAE Ambassador to Russia.
