Mohammed receives BIE Chairman for World Expo 2020

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received at his Palace in Zabeel today the chairman and members of the visiting Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

The visiting delegation is here to get acquainted with the preparations and the available potentials in the country to host the World Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Present at the meeting were Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the delegation and affirmed the interest of the country's leadership and the concerned authorities on holding this important event, which plays significant role in building the cultural bridges between people of the world and the UAE.

Mohammed tours Gulfood, orders extension of show to 5 days

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took today a tour of the Gulfood 2013, the world's biggest annual food and hospitality show, being staged at Dubai World Trade Centre from February 25 to 28.

Flanked by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Khalifa Saeed Sulieman, Director General of Dubai Protocol and Guesthouse Department, and Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organiser of Gulfood, Sheikh Mohammed toured various pavilions at the show, which attracts more than 4,000 local and foreign companies, to acquaint himself with world's leading brands on food industries, kitchen appliances and other food products and services.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed his satisfaction at the significant participation by the international food suppliers, processors and manufacturers who are showcasing the latest industry technology, products and equipment. He said the UAE's place at the world exhibition industry would continue to gain more confidence of the global trade, economic and investment circles.

Sheikh Mohammed has instructed the CEO of DWTC, the event organiser, to extend the duration of the show to five days to allow more specialists and experts to update themselves with the advanced innovations in the food industries.
