Mohammed: Thank you, our Armed Forces

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has called on all organisations and departments to dedicate the celebrations of his Accession Day to the UAE Armed Forces, asking all individuals and organisations to share a message of thanks and support to the brave sons and daughters of the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed said that the UAE, under the wise leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has been enjoying years of safety and security, and comfort and stability, because of those who sacrifice, "So we can live and prosper".

Sheikh Mohammed also said that the brave Armed Forces personnel work silently and selflessly "to protect every inch of this land, and that’s why they deserve our deepest gratitude and most sincere thanks".

Sheikh Mohammed said, "Our Armed Forces are one of the strongest and most advanced in the region, they are some of the best trained and best equipped, and I need to thank all those involved in such development and improvement, in particular General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for his role in leadership and inspiration, developing and pushing our Armed Forces to be one of the best in the world."

The Ruler of Dubai went on to say, "Thank you, guardians of our nation, for being a shield for the UAE. Thank you for answering the call of duty and for putting the country before yourselves. Thank you for giving us your absolute dedication, time and effort, night and day."

It has been the custom of Sheikh Mohammed to dedicate his accession day, January 4, redirecting its celebrations to thank members of the community that deserve recognition, asking all citizens and residents to join in and express their thanks however they see fit. For this occasion, Sheikh Mohammed has launched a wide social media campaign to allow all to express their love and send their thanks to the Armed Forces on Twitter and Instagram using a newly created hashtag.


Mohammed attends Dubai football challenge match

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended on Tuesday evening the sixth Dubai football challenge match between Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Present were Lt. General Musabah Rashid Al Fattan, Director of the Dubai Ruler's Office, Khalifa Sulaiman, Director-General of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, Hilal Saeed Al Marri, Director of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez and AC Milan's CEO Adriano Galliani and over 45,000 fans.

Sheikh Mohammed said he was pleased to attend the historic cordial match between the two football giants.

"Such events hosted in the UAE allow for exchange of expertise among the youth and enhance the culture of peace and co-existence among the different nations of the world," he added.
