President chairs Federal Supreme Council meeting

The meeting reviewed the achievements since the inception of Union four decades ago (WAM)

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan chaired on Friday at guest palace in Al Mushrif, the meeting of the Federal Supreme Council of the Rulers of Emirates.

The meeting, which reviewed the achievements since the inception of Union four decades ago, was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai;

His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Ajman; His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Fujairah; His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council member and ruler of Umm Al Quwain and His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

Sheikh Khalifa and the rulers exchanged the congratulations on the national day, stressing that "this great historic occasion constitutes a launch pad for boosting the Union and achieving the aspirations of UAE people".

They also greeted the UAE people on the occasion, reiterating that the achievements scored by the UAE over the last 40 years were fruits of the strenuous and sincere work by Emiratis. "The contribution of UAE people to building their country will always be highly appreciated".

Their Highnesses, Members of Supreme Council welcomed the decree issued by the UAE President on establishment of the "Head of State Merit Award," adding that this initiative will have a very positive impact regarding honouring of all who work and contribute to the nation-building.
They paid a tribute to the founding fathers who had shouldered the historic responsibilities to build the Union, stressing that the role of those founders and others who had worked with them "represents a national role model to current and coming generations".

Sheikh Khalifa hosted a banquet in the honour of Rulers and Crown Princes. The event was also attended by Sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.
