Rulers mourn death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today mourned to the nation the death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, former Minister of Education and Minister of Justice, co-founder and chairman of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing.

Sheikh Mohammed said: "I offer condolences to our people on the death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, Emirati loyal son, statesman and renowned media-person. Today I lost a dear brother, Abu Khaled, and a loyal friend, known of good conduct, courage, clarity of opinion, intention and sense of belonging and loyalty to his homeland and leadership."

The Vice President noted that Abdullah had contributed to the UAE Union alongside the founding fathers, adding that during his youth time he occupied top posts in the government. Sheikh Mohammed said the deceased had contributed to establishing a prestigious media group at the local and Arab levels. May almighty Allah rest his soul in eternal peace.

Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam died Thursday morning at the age of 66.

Prayers for the deceased will be held after Friday prayers at King Faisal Mosque in Sharjah. He will be buried at Jubail cemetery in Sharjah.  

Born in Sharjah in 1948, Dr. Abdullah finished his primary, secondary and high school education in Sharjah and Kuwait. He attained his Bachelor's degree in History from Cairo University and his Ph.D. in Modern History from the University of Exeter in the UK in 1986.

He established the Al Khaleej newspaper with his brother, the late Taryam Omran, in 1970, which has since grown to become the Dar Al Khaleej newspaper group. Abdullah worked as a secondary school teacher at Al Orouba School and then became a Director of the Department of Education in Sharjah.

He was among the team that negotiated the establishment of the UAE Union. He also held the posts of Minister of Education and Minister of Justice.

Ministry of Presidential Affairs mourns the death of Abdullah Omran Taryam

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs today mourned the death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing and the former Minister of Justice and Education, who died earlier this morning.

The Ministry prayed for Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace and bestow patience on the deceased family.

Emiri Court in Sharjah mourns Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam

The Court of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issues a statement of condolence on the death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, former Minister of Education and Minister of Justice, co-founder and chairman of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing.

The statement said: "Dr. Abdullah was one of the national symbols who contributed to the Union. He also promoted local and Arab media. May Almighty Allah rest his soul in eternal peace."

Ajman Ruler's Court mourns death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam

The Court of HH Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has mourned the death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing, and former Minister of Education and Justice.

It expressed profound sorrow on the demise of Abdullah and solace to the bereaved Taryam family. May almighty Allah rest his soul in eternal peace.

UAQ Ruler's Court mourns death of Abdullah Omran Taryam

The Court of HH Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, today mourned the death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing and the former Minister of Justice and Education, who died earlier this morning.

The Court prayed for Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace and bestow patience on the deceased family.

NMC mourns Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam

National Media Council (NMC) mourned the death of Abdullah Taryam Omran, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing, which occurred on Thursday morning.

The NMC said in a statement that "Abdullah was a statesman, had who occupied senior important posts in the government and played a significant in the UAE Union process. He and his late brother, Taryam Omran Taryam, former Speaker of the Federal National Council, co-founded Dar Al Khaleej, which issues Al Khaleej Arabic language daily newspaper."

It added that the deceased contributed to the UAE and Arab media. He also set up The Taryem Omran Centre for Media Training and Development. It provides free training to Emirati media-persons.

Speaker of Arab Parliament mourns Abdullah Omran Taryam

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, has mourned the death of Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej for Press, Printing and Publishing, former Minister of Education and Justice, who died on Thursday morning.

He said the deceased was a loyal Emirati and symbol of the UAE and Arab media, citing his numerous achievements in the areas of culture and media. Jarwan reiterated that Abdullah was among those who contributed effectively in the founding of the UAE Union.
