In a statement issued today (Tuesday), the Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, said that his country has taken its decision to cut ties with Iran, stressing that Egypt rejected any Iranian interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that the statement came when the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir, received yesterday evening the Egyptian Foreign Minister at his office in the presence of Minister of State and Cabinet Member, Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Said.
During the meeting, they discussed areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries and the latest developments in the Arab and Islamic arenas.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister added that his country confirmed many times its firm position, saying, "We are working with our brothers in Saudi Arabia and other countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of Egypt's security and the security of Egypt is an integral part of Saudi Arabia's security."
"Our relationship with Saudi Arabia is strategic and fraternal, and we share a common destiny. We are working with all what we have to strengthen this relationship at all levels, and the work of the Coordinating Committee between the two countries, and the consequent results, are the best evidence of the determination of the two countries to achieve this common interest," the Egyptian Minister said.
