A camel demonstrated extreme human-like emotion and strong memory when he warmly hugged his ex-Saudi owner just as it saw him after a long absence.
The ex-owner himself was surprised when the camel rushed towards him and circled its long neck around the man who visited the animal at his new farm in Saudi Arabia.
The unnamed man, who sold his camel to another Saudi farmer a few months ago, said he went to the new farm to visit the camel after missing it.
Although he had known the camel would recognise him, he had not expected the animal to show such a passionate reaction towards a human.
A picture published by Sada Arabic language daily showed the farmer appeared nearly smothered by the camel as it wrapped his head with its neck as if to say to him “although you got rid of me, I still love you.”
Sada said the picture was published on social networks, adding that most of those who viewed were stunned by the camel’s reaction.
“Some of them said the camel remembered his previous owner and hugged him so warmly because it was evident that the owner had treated his camel nicely,” it said without mentioning where the farm is located in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi civil defence men used a crane to pluck out a camel which fell into a sewage pit near a farm in the Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper said on Wednesday.
The camel has just stepped out of the farm along with other camels and sheep when it slipped and fell into the uncovered 60-metre wide pit.
“Civil defence men went into the pit, tied the camel and lifted it, using a crane,” Sada newspaper said in a report from the southern Saudi town of Bisha.
