Saudi Arabia launches 'sheep' price index

Saudi Arabia has launched a new online index showing the daily prices of sheep and other livestock, local newspapers reported on Monday.
 
The Ministry of Trade and Industry has set up the index on its website as part of its online commodities index, the papers said.
 
“This index will be devoted to showing the movement of prices of sheep, cow and camels…it will be updated on daily basis,” Kabar daily said.
 
The index (https://cpi.mci.gov.sa/cpi/Pages/Public/viewDailyCattlePrices.aspx) was introduced ahead of Eid Al Adha, when demand for livestock sharply increases as Muslims sacrifice sheep on the occasion.
