UAE to help light up four Yemeni provinces

The UAE has agreed to provide nine large power generators to ensure sufficient electricity for Aden and three other Yemeni provinces.

The Abu Dhabi Electricity Department agreed to provide the 420-MW generators following talks in the capital with a Yemeni electricity delegation.

“The UAE has agreed to provide these generators which will benefit Aden and three other governorates in the country,” Mujeeb Hazim, director general of the Electricity Corporation Aden, told Yemen’s Marib Press news network.

He said Abu Dhabi’s offer also involves the construction of power lines to link some areas in those provinces and upgrade power networks in Aden.

“The Abu Dhabi promised us to provide solutions to the energy problem in Aden…these solutions will be before next Summer,” he said.
